WebTightness in chest. I (31M) have always had the MS hug but last night it was different. I started getting tightness in my chest that would squeeze for a a couple minutes and then relax a little, and it triggered a panic attack. Going to the doctor they checked, and my ECG came back normal so not a heart attack but the tightness is still there ... WebMy doctor says it's costocondritis. I have been trying to find out if it is actually an ms hug. I can't find anything that shows there very much of a diffence in the two. Both are described as a spasm of the muscles between the ribs. I 've read that the ms hug does not have to encircle the body but can be felt in different areas of the body.
