Web8 aug. 2024 · We review evidence for five key effects that apex predators have (1) driving natural selection, (2) modulating disease, (3) controlling biogeography, (4) sinking carbon and (5) contributing to human well-being and discuss whether human predation yields similar or different effects in the presence and absence of apex predators.
